Join our team at QBOW Child and Family Services Inc. as a Childcare Worker. Our Emergency Home provides a temporary shelter for children and youth until it is safe for them to return to their family homes or a place of care. As a Child Care Worker, you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive, culturally enriched environment where children and youth can thrive. The Child Care Worker is responsible for following approved policies for the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Home. The Child Care worker will provide supervision, guidance, and personal care to the needs of the clients in the Emergency home.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
•Certificate in Early Childhood Development or related discipline.
•Minimum (2) years working as a team member in program and service delivery for youth and children
•At least one (1-2) years of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults in crisis
•Front line youth/childcare experience preferred
•Preference will be given to applicants with:
oExperience working with Indigenous populations
oExperience supporting youth with intergenerational trauma/PTSD/CPTSD
•A type of Trauma-Informed Care Certification is an asset

Conditions of Employment:
•Maintain Clear CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Check
•Must maintain a class 5 driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle
•Maintain Confidentiality – Sign Oath of Confidentiality annually
•Must be available for all shifts as needed. Work in a shift work environment as we operate 365/24/7.
•Preference will be given to applicants with CPR/First Aid, Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention (DPVS), ASIST (Suicide Intervention), Mental Health First Aid & Water Safety
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide compassionate support to youth & children with complex needs, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
• Monitor and supervise youth daily by following the daily routines (i.e. all areas of their living quarters are clean, personal laundry done, personal hygiene is practiced daily etc.)
• Facilitate engaging activity plans, outings that encourage participation
• Ensure that proper discipline, guidance, and direction is provided in a fair and logical manner, in an atmosphere of respect and concern for the special circumstances, rights and dignity of the youth
• Resolve conflicts with empathy and use behavior management strategies to guide clients through challenges
• Complete documentation and incident reports accurately and clearly
• Track and reconcile expenses, submit receipts for approved expenditures.
• Ensure agency vehicle logs are completed accurately.
• Maintain and care for assigned assets and resources, including buildings, vehicles, furnishings, and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as needed to support clients and the team.
• Attend regular staff meetings contributing ideas, strategies, and experiences.
Safety:
• Prioritize and promote safe work practices, creating a secure environment for clients and colleagues.
•Dispense medication at proper times and according to the doctor’s order. Record this in medical logbook.
•Ensure all medication is always under lock and key.
•Shift note every 15 minutes to ensure safety and accuracy of onsite operations.
•Follow the child prevention intervention techniques when restraining. Wage/Salary range: Full/Part-time $18.00 to $30.00 per hour depending on experience. (Tax Exempt for Treaty Status)
