What is Post Majority Support?
Post-majority support services aim to support First Nations youth and young adults during their transition to independence promoting their self-identified best interests, including physical, emotional, cultural, relational, educational, financial, and psychological safety, security, and well-being. Services will be based on each individual’s distinct needs to become self-sufficient and successful.
Who is Eligible for Post Majority Support?
- Youth currently in FNCFS care approaching the age of majority (18).
- Young adults aged 18-26 who were in care.
- Youth who were in FNCFS care and left voluntarily before the age of majority.
- Youth who were in FNCFS care on the day they reached the age of majority.
What Services Are Accessible?
Post Majority direct services that are provided directly to support the youth/young adult are as follows:
- Learning, Educational and Professional Development Opportunities
- Financial Support and Security, Safe, Stable Comfortable Housing
- Physical, Mental, Social well being
- (Re)Connection with Land, Culture, Language and Community
All are based on the unique needs depending on the circumstance of what the young adult requires at time of request. There can be more than one request submitted as changes arise.
